“Tell all the truth but tell it slant” ~Emily Dickinson
Say it. Just say it.
Whatever it is cannot possibly be worse than silence, than darkness. Fears fester in darkness, so open your mouth and let the words fall out.
Say all of it.
Say it imperfectly. Say it ineloquently. Say it while you are crying. Say it while you are laughing.
Say it in a whisper. Say it in English. Díselo en español.
Say it even if you think it is not what they want to hear.
Say it even though your voice is shaking. Say it with arrogance and self-righteousness.
Say it slowly, acknowledging the cost of each syllable as you produce them. Say it between gasps of air. Say it quickly as though you are ripping off a Band-Aid.
Say it chaotically. Say it mercilessly. Say it cheerfully. Say it unabashedly.
Say it out of sequence. Say it at a moment that is inconvenient. Say it with courage.
Say it even if you are not sure whether this is the beginning, middle or end.
Say it porque le prometiste transparencia, pero le has dejado en la oscuridad. Respira profundamente, look them in the eyes and say it.
Just say it.
